Appropriate Energy Saving Technologies (AEST) LTD is dedicated to providing sustainable energy solutions to households and institutions in urban and peri-urban areas in Northeastern Uganda. These solutions include charcoal briquettes made from recycled agricultural waste and energy saving cook stoves. The smokeless, sootless charcoal briquettes have a long burning capacity and are far more affordable than traditional fuels such as wood charcoal and firewood. The improved cook stoves feature a fired clay lining, a metallic cladding, a grate and a cement mixture used for assembly. The improved cook stoves have a much higher efficiency level of 50 to 60%, compared to the traditional stove’s efficiency of 24%. This energy saving technology has the potential to benefit over 3 million low Show more income households, 100 poultry farms, 500 institutions such as schools, restaurants, hotels, prisons, etc., and 300 tea kiosks and barbeques in the Teso region of northeastern Uganda.
